The world around us, in all its rich variety, has been the subject of my work. I have desired to portray the world realistically and as beautifully as possible. The pursuit of art has sharpened my appreciation of the natural world and has made me more appreciative of all that has been given to us. I have found the making of art to be totally absorbing and great fun.
Art classes all through my schooling were the highlights of those years. Continuing the study of art in a variety of settings and classes has been an integral part of my life as wife and mother. I have sought to use my abilities in the best interests of my family, my church, and community.
My education includes a B.S. in Secondary Education and Art from Montana State University. My work has won awards and may be seen at Concetta D. Gallery in Albuquerque, New Mexico, Chumani Gallery and Indigo Gallery in Madrid, New Mexico. My principle mediums are oil and pastel, but my experience includes mixed media, graphite, acrylic, watercolor, pen and ink, and murals. I do portraits and other subjects by commission and my work is in private and corporate collections in the United States. I hold membership in Oil Painters of America, The New Mexico Pastel Society, Rio Grande Artist Association, and Artist's Collaborative.
For the past thirteen years I have taught studio art classes and private lessons, first at Art Master's Academy in Albuquerque and then in my studio.
There is much beauty around us and many times it is missed by the casual observer. In my work, I hope to cause people to notice the beautiful in what is often considered ordinary.
